About GenomeNet and Bioinformatics Center

GenomeNet is a Japanese network of database and computational services for genome research and related research areas in molecular and cellular biology. GenomeNet was established in September 1991 under the Human Genome Program of the then Ministry of Education, Science and Culture (Monbusho). The GenomeNet service has been developed and operated by the Kanehisa Laboratory in the Institute for Chemical Research, Kyoto University as part of the following projects.

The Bioinformatics Center of the Institute for Chemical Research, Kyoto University was established in April 2001 in order to promote basic and applied research in bioinformatics, to facilitate education and training in bioinformatics, and to provide the bioinformatics infrastructure that integrates genomic information and biomedical knowledge.

The Bioinformatics Center of Kyoto University and the Human Genome Center of the University of Tokyo have been in collaboration for the following activities.
